Chuckwagon Breakfasts --- At the Tombstone Cowboy ChurchWe've fixed up a simulated Chuckwagon inside the church. Here are some pix.
The Chuckbox is a foodbox that I built for car camping when my family was living in Los Angeles in the 60's. We put it in the back of my little VW Squareback, and explored the area, from Death Valley to Hearst Castle. I've still got that old food box and it looks just like we did it on purpose!! The Stove is one that my sweetie had. It's already been replaced by a big 3-burner Colman that was built in 1959.
At the right... Senor Rick hard at work, cooking up fried bread and scrambled eggs. Below... fried bread. The recipe is here. Below... fried bread cooking in the dutch oven.
Right... another look at the Chuckbox. Notice the hot sauces on top of the box. These are an essential part of a cowboy breakfast and we will analyze our collection of sauces here. A "real chuckwagon. Pastor Dave is planning to build a chuckwagon for the road. It may look like this. Here is a a Breakfast Blog of my experiences Here's one of our more successful dishes-- Chilaquiles -- and some pix. |
