Herdez Salsa

Came along later, but now being aggressively marketed in the US.   Several flavors to choose from

You will find these in the MEXICAN section of your local market.    

(right) Salsa Casera is home-style Salsa,  used for dip, and for general cooking.  My "standard recipe" for refried beans is:

1 Can Frijoles Refritos

2-3 TBSP Coconut Oil

1 Can Salsa Casera

 

Depending upon the condition of the refried beans (they may have sizeable whole beans) I may mix this with my "power wand."   BTW, the power wand is the magic which converts cooked pinto beans into refritos.  

 

(Left) Salsa Verde.  Made with green tomatoes (!!!) and Serrano chiles.  

 

Not really as hot as it looks.  My customers don't seem to like the way it looks so I have a lot of it left over.  Consequently, I use it a lot just to use it up.

 

I like it!!

 

 

(right) Salsa Ranchera.  I initially bought this and served it by mistake!  It is very hot and very tasty, and evokes many comments from my customers.

 

Ingredients:  Tomato Puree, Jalapenos, Anchos, and lots of garlic and spices.  It is definitely different!!!

 

 

 

(left) Salsa Taquera.  Literally "Taco Sauce,"  this is HOT and thin, something to use sparingly on tacos & tostadas.

 

Definitely NOT for piling on top of a smothered Burrito!!

 

It is dark and very tasty!!
