Steak Houses and Western Shows

There are big chains of steakhouses like Sizzler and Texas Roadhouse.  Less well-known are the western shows which feature not only western food, but music and gunplay shows as well.

The one I know best is the Flying W Ranch in Colorado Springs, which has been running since 1953.  I used to chat with the owner, Russ Wolfe, when he ate at the King's Chef Diner!  A number of my good friends played music with the Flying W Wranglers.

There are lots of copy cats!   Here are a few and you can always google for more.  The search term is "Chuckwagon supper"

Wildlife West is a fully-enclosed western nature park near Albuquerque. Their chuckwagon supper is described here.

Prairie Rose.  "Located along the historic Chisholm Trail, just 15 minutes east of Wichita, the Prairie Rose Ranch is home to the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon – the Midwest’s Largest Chuckwagon Supper."

The CCC in Tucson is closed. Jim Dunham, who did a gunplay show at the Flying W, went to the CCC and is now at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA.  He says "I'm out of the loop!" which is putting it mildly.
