Wildlife

No, not bars and dance halls!  Flora and fauna, indigenous to the west.

When I first came to Arizona, fresh from Arkansas, I knew all about trees -- in Arkansas.  I was in for a new, real-time education about the desert; the plants and animals who live here, and the tough environment it really is.
After I got out of the Army, I bought an old CJ2-A Jeep and prowled the "Footalina Cat-hills" north of Tucson for over a decade.

As a Frat Rat (Delta Sigma Phi)  I pioneered a trail up Sabino Canyon, my brother Earle Dysthe carrying a pony keg, so we could have boondockers  on the banks of the creek.

Walt Disney's "Living Desert." This came out right after I moved to Arizona!  Timeless, it's still one of the best documentaries Walt every made.  You can buy it here.. Walt Disney Legacy Collection - True Life Adventures, Vol. 2

Tucson's Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.   This opened at almost the same time as the wonderful movie above.  It has always been a landmark as a zoo that's not a zoo.  Teaches you all about the desert with demos, displays, and tunnels to watch the underground activities. The original George L. MountainLion is gone, but his memory and progeny live on, and he still serves as their logo.  Their FAQ page is very entertaining.
