Wyatt Earp

Wyatt Earp is surely one of the most interesting characters in the legends of the West.   He has been a hero since the dime novels wrote about him in the early part of the century and Stewart Lake published Frontier Marshal, purportedly based on conversations with Earp himself.  (You can find a long interesting article on Net Buntline -- inventor of the "Buntline Special" -- which Wyatt purportedly carried -- here.)  There are dozens of articles and books about Wyatt, and -- of course -- numerous movies, which I discuss here.

Here in Tombstone, the controversy still rages on.  Hero or Scoundrel???  (Probably both.)

The Buntline Special.  According to legend, Ned Buntline, a famous writer of westerns, had Colt make up a special long-barrelled six-gun, and he presented it to Wyatt.  Here's the real story!!
